About

From an early age, I have been intimately aware of, and fascinated by, the power of art and beauty to evoke deep emotional responses. And for as long as I can remember, I have been driven by a desire to create external representations of my inner experience.

I am a relative newcomer to the visual arts. My mixed media work is grounded in self-exploration and developed through my discovery of visual journaling several years ago. As an avid journaler for the past two decades, I was deeply aware of how to use writing to access deliciously interwoven layers of multifaceted emotion.  Through visual journaling, I developed a visual language for my emotional experience and discovered a mode of expressing myself visually—through form, line, color—tapping into aspects of my experience that did not readily lend themselves to being expressed through language. Reflecting my long relationship with journaling, my mixed media work often integrates the written word. Phrases that float through my mind as I’m working, bits of poetry or parts of my journal pages all make their way in to my pieces.
